So you want to express your inner creativity, and let it out to be seen by the world? And you think Zbrush is the way to do it? You are absolutely right, and this course is exactly for you. Welcome to Absolute Beginners Zbrush course by SpeedChar. My name is Niko and I am a 3D character artist with over 12 years of experience in the game industry. In this course, I will guide you through all the necessary Zbrush features and menus, to start sculpting your desired characters and bring them to life.

I will slowly and fully explain how to start using Zbrush, how to navigate the interface. The variuos things you need to know to model a head, horns, torso, armors, sword and even a cape, all in Zubrush. While we are working on our character, we will learn how to work with the most important Zbrush functions. I will not make this super complicated by going through everything in Zbrush. I will show you only the things you really need to know to make a fully finished high poly character.

We will start by getting familiar with the basic interface and navigation in Zbrush. After that I will show you how to customize your workflow to work much faster again in Zbrush.

Then we will start the character from sphere, I will guide you through the process of starting your sculpt and add new elements to it, like horns, arms and body. After that we will create, and adjust the armor.  Then we will create the legs and refine the arms. We will go trough the process of making the cape, and also add spikes to the armor. After that i will show you how to make a hard surface object in Zbrush, fast and efficient by making the sword. Then you will learn how to add details on your model so it will look much more appealing. We will also paint the model so it will have better presentation. Following will be a breaf intro to posing the character, until it is time to go trough materials and light in Zbrush. After we apply and are happy with our materials and light setup, we can start rendering the character with Zbrush and then combining the passes in Photoshop, to achieve a professional look.

I created this course for people that wants to start digital modelling in the best industry standart program – Zbrush, but don’t know how. This is also for those artists, who whants to improve and help their drawing with a 3D base, or why not, become a digital sculptors. This is absolute beginners course, so it doesn’t require any previous knowledge of Zbrush or even Photoshop. Everything in this course is real time with constant commentary from me, and i can talk a lot! So don’t hesitate, but grab this course and upgrade yourself to the next few levels. Don’t forget that investing in yourself will benefit you for the rest of your life, so lets get started!

  • Niko is the man! Accept no imitations

I had previously purchased a (more expensive) tutorial from a popular ZBrush Youtuber that had me nearly tearing my hair out with frustration. I was ready to give up and uninstall my ZBrush trial. Then I bought Niko’s tutorial on sale and right away everything clicked. He makes sure to go slowly, explaining everything he’s doing and *why*. He makes the very smart decision of both including a ready-to-use custom UI and detailing how to remake his UI from scratch. This way, you learn all about the ZBrush interface and where all the important tools are located. I’m not even done with the series, but Niko has already sold me on using ZBrush to improve my digital sculpting!

  • One of the best beginners Zbrush Courses out there.

As someone who was hammering these types of tutorials many years ago – I feel free to say that this is one of the best beginners Zbrush Courses out there. Many years have passed since the last time I was “playing” with Zbrush and this Course helped me to remember most of the things I knew back then ie. to return back to the game + many new things, and I´m not even yet at the 30% finished with it. Nikolay is proof that nothing is hard as long as you have a great instructor who explains things with ease and simplicity. A couple of days ago I bumped also into Nikolay´s YouTube video related to what tablet he is using and it completely cleared my delusions (which many of us really have) that you need to have great or expensive equipment to become a great Zbrush artist. Quite opposite actually and for that I´m forever grateful; Brilliant instructor and pure motivation!

  • THIS IS A MUST HAVE.

I bought this course so I could properly learn the interface and how all the brushes and tools are used effectively after a brief introduction to the software at university.

ZBrush had always been this mountain I had never has the confidence to conquer and Niko’s approach not only helped me understand the UI, but also fall in love with the software and his workflow for characters.

    Thank you Nikolay!

  • Steady pace - Excellent for beginners

I’ve picked up numerous other tutorials to try teach myself Zbrush but this is the FIRST I think that has actually be tailored for beginners and works. Every other review has said how funny and pleasant Niko is – this is true, he isn’t patronising and tries to be clear and concise so you know what he is doing and how.

Like a teacher in a classroom, he repeats lessons or skills he’s previously shown you so it cements in but also doesnt overload you with information. The course teaches you a little bit at a time as and when you need it throughout the process. There is no skipping over steps and by the looks of it he is active here too if you need to ask something else.

I am used to working in 2D in Photoshop but even Niko’s shortcuts and custom menu make sense to me and the way he works. Tutorials teach you THEIR way to do things, this is no different but it feels more like he is trying to give new starters an intro and grounding to then find out their own way later, he’s not forcing a particular working method or process down your throat.

Like I said, I have spent money on at least 5-7 other tutorial courses but this is the one which is giving me the confidence to dive back in each week.

    Thank you

  • Zbrush for beginners

Nico is a humorous and very informative individual. He is thorough with his directions and works at a comfortable yet constructive pace. He executes the process very effectively and takes the necessary time to appropriately explain the certain properties about a tool and it’s function to a industry level workflow. I highly recommend the content of speedchar to any wiling participant whether beginner or intermediate. I have no doubt I’ll return to Nico’s page for more expert level training in the selected field.

  • Going great until...

I really was enjoying this course, and I won’t rate it negatively – but I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how to restore symmetry. They are stacked on top of each other, and it seems like there was no solution for me by searching the web.

Please someone help me. I can’t finish this course without fixing this.

    PLEASE HELP!

  • Best Hands-on Introduction

This workshop lets you dive into Zbrush and get some hands-on experience from a beginners perspective.

While the course does not dive deep into the details of Zbrush, it instead keeps you focused on getting comfortable with using the software, and does it exceedingly well.

While not through the course, I feel more comfortable than ever using Zbrush, and that I am capable of tackling more in depth knowledge.

Thank you for a great Absolute Beginners Course.

  • Only one minor issue

So far this course has been great from a beginners standpoint. I took the dive on zbrush about a week ago and found flippednormals on YT as most people so i jumped to the website to see what courses were available. This was the first course I purchased and it was absolutely worth the $15 price tag (got it on sale) However, my ONLY complaint was that you have to download EACH video file 1 by 1 and there are 30. Would be ALOT easier if the video files were in 1 folder for download purposes or 2 folders containing 15 files. However, this is just a minor quality of life issue and not anything against the course which as i said so far is amazing and i highly recommend people picking up! Great job overall SpeedChar!
