Foliage for Games using SpeedTree

Learn the secrets to creating quick and easy foliage for games using SpeedTree and Maya. In this course, we’ll teach you everything you need to know about creating a variety of different foliage – all optimized for games and flexible to set up.

Industry Standard Workflows

All the programs and workflows that are covered in this tutorial are also used in the game and movie industry. You will learn the power of SpeedTree and its quick placement and generation as well as how to create everything from ivy to grass, water lilies, flowers, and more.

6 HOURS OF QUALITY GAME ART TRAINING

This course contains just under 6 hours of training where you can follow along with every single step. We’ll start by going over our references and how to set up the scene we will later populate with foliage (scene is included). We will then move into SpeedTree where we will be creating multiple types of Ivy and water grass. Next, we’re going to create water plants using Maya. Finally, we will tie it all together with a chapter on how to place and optimize our foliage for real-time use in UE4. When we have finalized our scene and assets, we will end up with a stunning piece of real-time art you can be proud to include in your portfolio.

  • Great Tutorial

This was exactly what I was looking for, as most resources online are for film and those available for games are very limited.

The tutorial takes you through the whole process of creating a variety of foliage in speedtree using scans for the textures, and placing them into the Unreal scene.

You can create any other foliage needed after you learn the basic workflow.

    Great tutorial.
