Introduction to Sculpting

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to sculpt, Introduction to Sculpting will give you the tools you need to become a great artist. With over 14 hours of high-quality training, you will be introduced to concepts that will transform your art. Learn what appeal is, understand gesture, block out your sculpts, sculpt stylized characters, and much more!

From Simple to Advanced

We’ll start right at the beginning with very simple topics like what tools we use, basic sculpting techniques – to more intermediate and advanced topics like sculpting wrinkles, sculpting pores, gesture and appeal, sculpting hair, mid-frequency and stretching & compression.

Sculpting a Dwarf

In the practical part of this tutorial, we will put our knowledge to the test and sculpt a professional level dwarf starting from a sphere in ZBrush. With 5 hours of real-time sculpting, we’re going through every step from start to finish. By the end of Introduction to Sculpting, you’ll have a firm grasp of how to sculpt anything you desire, using the right tools.

  • *reeeeeally*

Great. The amount of times Henning says the word “reeeeeally” is easily in the thousands.

  • A must do for those without much arts background

I’ve done this one along with Intro to Zbrush 2020 and I’m really happy.
It covers items that I wasn’t aware of or that I didn’t do very well.
A “must do” if you want to either kick-off or boost your sculpting skills.

  • JUST BUY IT ALREADY!

This is worth much much much more than what it’s being sold for. 15 years of knowledge distilled into several hours of videos. Of course you have to put in the work but it’s seriously going to save you from so many years of just having to figure this sculpting thing out yourself!

  • Great course giving foundation for further advancement

I really enjoyed this course. I learned a lot about workflows, techniques and most importantly the way of thinking while sculpting. It is packed with useful information, tips and tricks. I especially like some chapters that you can later put and just listen in the background to get some things really ingrained. For some time I was doodling around with sculpting but I feel that now I can have a proper start. I am also happy with my final dwarf model. But as said in the course this course is not for you to make this character good but to enable you to make many future characters good. I would recommend.

  • Wow! This course is amazing!

Wow! This course is amazing! I highly recommend it. You also have a amazing bundle on sculpting. Would it be interesting to do a course on a whole figure and prepare it for printing 3d…. would you like to do it? That would be great! Thanks for everything!

  • Awesome product

I am new to the sculpting, and i have bought too many tutorials but none of them filled the missing parts, while this one has provided many new ideas on what I need to focus to improve.

  • So Useful

I’ve been using Zbrush on and off for a few years and there is tonnes of info in this tutorial to add to my basics knowledge and indeed, a shed load of info that I’m picking up about the fundamentals! As we all know, Henning is an awesome tutor and this series really doesn’t disappoint. The only downer I can see is that Henning mentions following along in the fundamentals video “12_silhouette”… but the file doesn’t seem to be included? Still, incredibly worth while, I’ll be reaping the rewards of this series for the rest of my career.

  • This is a great place to get started

Don’t let the description fool you – If you watch any of the flipped normals free videos on youtube, you can get enough working knowledge of the software to get started with this. The dwarf walkthrough video is much better paced for an absolute beginner compared to the troll in the zbrush introduction course. That course is great to understand the feature list of the software – but I feel like the art/concepts come first and the features follow, and this course breaks down the thought process and general concepts better than any other course I’ve seen.

    • Just a small note, it would be even better if you could include the reference images you used for the dwarf.

  • A must!

I’ve learned so much! This is a very valuable course, and I really do feel like it saved me 3-4 years of bad sculpting haha since it taught me how to think when I want to sculpt which is something that is not often talked about. I am very pleased with my results! Thank you so much for this course, I can’t wait to buy another one from Flipped Normals 🙂
