Photorealistic Eye

Zip file is composed of

  • “.ma” file with the Eye, complete with Arnold Materials. (PhotorealisticEye ->Scene)
  • Texture Folder with : 5 Different Iris Color Textures, Sclera Textures, PupilRim  (PhotorealisticEye -> sourceimages)
  • Obj and Zbrush File (PhotorealisticEye -> Scene -> Elements)

In Maya File you will find

  • EyeGRP : Sclera, Iris, Pupil Rim Meshes
  • Eye_Controller, to activate BlendShapes
  • BlendShapes Meshes

Sclera AiStandardSurface material consists in a MixShader with Cornea Material and a Procedural 3D Mask in order to leave to the User the ability to modify Intensity and Scale and move the 3D Texture Controller (‘place3dTexture1’) on the top of the eye mesh.

Iris AiStandardSurface consists only in Textures connected to Material Master, so you can change Iris color by just replacing the baseColor Texture.

How To use Pupil Dilatation

Once you have opened your file, you can easily modify the Pupil Dilatation of the Eye with using the Eye Controller you will find in the Scene.

This Controller has a Custom Attribute called “Eye_BlendShape” with values ranging from -1 to 1.

  • Pupil Dilation = 1
  • Pupil Contraction = -1

Use mid values to get the best result

  • I regret I purchased this Eye.

The Eye is not centred. Not recommended for newbies as it requires advanced level if you wish to mirror the eye in order to duplicate it with its blend node. The size of the Iris is not realistic either. It is a mess. The brown colour Iris looks like plastic. Not realistic at all.

    • Hi, there is a description and some renders to let you see the materials and everything concern this model before buying it. I’m sorry if I haven’t explained how to mirror it or how to use the material also for other like you that are newbies with Maya.
The brown Iris it’s a texture and if you use it like a robot it won’t be realistic like everything in the 3D World…Unfortunately we haven’t the Feature “Click and Get Awesome Renders”.

I’m sorry if you couldn’t make the most with this model but the Vote in my opinion should be objective and not related to your skills on using it.

      • This eye looks phenomenal and I would love to use it. Would you mind creating a short tutorial on how to properly mirror it, for those whom may not be experienced with how to adjust the models around, especially if it is connected to a rig, which someone could unintentionally “break” if they don’t know what they’re doing? It would seriously be appreciated and could help you with sales. 🙂

        Thank you for your feedback.
