If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to switch from 3ds Max, Modo, C4D or Maya, this is the perfect course for you!

Understanding Blender

As you’re switching to Blender, you’ve probably noticed that Blender is quite different from other 3D software. In this course, we’re covering how to work around a lot of the Blender-quirks and how to embrace the Blender-way of working. We’ll take you through all the oddities like the navigation, using the camera and generally how to work efficiently with Blender.

Mix of Theory & Practical

The course is split into 2 main parts: Quick Start & Making an Axe! In Quick Start, you’ll learn to use Blender. We cover the essential tools you need to know in to-the-point videos. In Making an Axe, we take you through start to finish how to make an axe, from poly modeling, UV mapping, sculpting, shading to finally lighting and rendering. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to use Blender in your own projects, taking advantage of this amazing 3D software.

“I’ve been working in game art for over 15 years and Switching to Blender might be the single most impactful software switch I’ve experienced. I only wish this guide was available when I did!”

  • Excellent resource!

I came from using maya regularly with occasionally using blender just for some simple rendering in cycles. It’s taking some practice to get used to the different hotkeys and layout in blender (I originally fought against Hennings advice to embrace Blenders weird ways for the intro) but after fully committing to it and making my way through the chapters I have really enjoyed learning and experimenting with blender. The chapters are concise and simple which is great in case you forget something further down the line and just need a quick reminder, and get’s straight to the point of being up and running in a very short time. There’s still so much more in blender to play around with but this tutorial will give you the basis and understanding of it’s core functions enough so that you can dive into the rest yourself.

  • Just What I Needed

As a long-time C4D User I’ve been playing with the idea of switching for quite some time but could never find suitable training until now. This course is well presented, clear, and concise with just the right amount of detail and expertly targeted at the experienced artist. Highly recommended.

  • Very Helpful

I’m in the middle of the course, and so far so good! Learning Blender after ten years experience of 3DSMax. The tutorial answers if not all but the most questions. Also I admit the honest opinion about some Blender’s features.
Thank you for this great tutorial ^_^
