Introduction
German WWII Carbide Railroad Lantern-Painted in an ordinance tan, this Reich Railway conductor/trainman's lantern has a brass carbide burner. This stands approximately 18 inches high if the chain and hook are fully extended. The body itself is approximately 9 inches high with the handle being another 3 ½ inches high. It retains about 70% of its original finish. You can remove the lens doors and the interior has the complete set up for the kerosene lantern. It has a wooded carrying handle. Nicely marked “ago” for Luft, E., Eisen- und Metallwarenfabrik, Tetschen a/Elbe. Overall sound and untouched and uncleaned.

Constructed of iron stampings, this hand lantern has three glass panes, clear sides and center frosted. The light source or burner is absent, but it was full of candle wax when we got it before cleaning. The rear of the lantern is very clearly embossed with a Deutsche Reichsbahn DR with eagle and saws.
