Maya to Blender for pros
This is for the current Maya user, looking to transition into also using Blender. We will take Maya as a starting point, and check out the corresponding features in Blender whenever they exist. The course aims to equip you with the knowledge you need, to be able to continue using your established, existing workflows and techniques.
The basis for this course is my own transition from Maya to Blender. I found the process a bit frustrating, especially because Blender does not use industry standard navigation or shortcuts - or even naming! The course aims to give you an overview of all these weird differences, so you will be up and running, using Blender in no time!
What you will learn from this course
- Gain an understanding of Blender
- Understand what Maya features and functions are called in Blender (if they exist)
- Be up and running quickly in Blender
- Be able to continue applying your ways of working, that you know and love from Maya!
Chapter list
- Crash course on Basics of Blender
- Customize the viewport
- Cameras in the viewport
- UI elements in Blender
- Viewport shading modes
- The grid
- Hypershade
- Collections
- Gizmos for select, move, rotate, scale
