Substance Designer Rock Creation Techniques 1

Rocks and cliffs are my favorite materials to make in Substance Designer. In this Rock Creation Techniques series, I’m going to demonstrate my most utilized techniques.

In this first tutorial, we’re going to focus on capturing the base shapes of various types of rocks. We will look at 5 different types of rock formations, and practice different methods to extract the base shapes and to capture their distinctive characteristics. By the end of this tutorial, you’ll have a good understanding of the shaping techniques that I use in many of my rock projects.

Tutorials in this series are fully narrated and follow a step-by-step format, where I’ll be building from scratch. They are aimed at beginner to intermediate users.

  • Missing File?

Hello. Dunno where else to put this so here will have to do… I guess. The tutorial is amazing! Im really enjoying it and learning lots. But when you are explaining the voronoid method of creating rocks you use a node called… DeteLowPassing to remove the tearing of the tesselation, and mention that it is included with the video tutorial. Its not that big of a deal because it doesn’t really affects the tutorial or the learning but I would love to have it included as you said… if posible ofc.

or if it is included! where can i find it?

    thanks in advance 🙂

    • Forgot to mention this, you can find and download the missing utility nodes that Daniel uses in this chapter in his Gumroad. The specific Gumroad is Dete Art Resources. *He actually mentions this at the end of the video* so my apologies.
